Idea's For Homemade Dog Food

Have you ever thought about making your own home made dog food? It requires a certain knowledge of the proper ingredients and the percentages of fat, protein, and vitamins to meet the nutritional needs of your dog. This can be a little tricky.

One of my favorite recipe websites,  Allrecipes.com  (for humane food) asked their readers to send in their best recipes for home made dog food. There are several recipes for food and cookies, and even one for a birthday cake! There are comments and ideas from experts on how to round out these recipes to meet 100% of your dogs nutritional needs.

Remember to always consult your Veterinarian  before changing your dogs diet, and especially with food that you are preparing yourself at home. You can create more problems, than good, if you leave out the essential nutrients.

  1. My dog can't eat anything but Purina ONE (Lamb and Rice). Cleaning up pukie was becoming a regular routine until I figured that out!

It took me almost a year of trying the homemade route and MANY other options before finally coming up with that solution.

    How strange is that?

  2. I think that is very strange indeed! Are you sure he wasn't allergic to something? And are you sure the food itself was making him sick? Not getting the right amount of Fat in home made food can cause a lot of problems. Getting too much can cause stomach upset, diarrhea, and throwing up. I'm sure you must be relieved to finally find something he could eat.

Welcome to my blog and thanks for participating! Love to hear from other people with bird dogs and share information.
