Happy 4TH of July!

Happy Birthday America
and
Happy 4TH of July to all of You!

Please remember that you dogs and other animals do not enjoy
the sounds, smells, and "BANG!" of the 4th of July as we do.
It's best to keep them kenneled in a safe quiet place
for their own safety and your peace of mind.

Happy New Year ~ Scenes From Montana

Dan and I went for a drive yesterday just to get out and see some of the beauty that the snow and frozen temps have brought our way.  Although it was only about 6 degrees, the sun was shinning bright and warm and kept the "bite" of the cold at bay. We went out for a late breakfast then drove the back road to Idaho. I feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful area of Montana. It helps me to forget how cold it gets here!!
Hey!........Where'd THAT one come from?
This is one of the Marinas on Pend Oreille Lake,  in Hope, Idaho. That's Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort in the background on the right. When the lake freezes up, the Eagles start to move in.
Our National Bird ~ The Bald Eagle
We saw 6 of these beauties altogether
Did you know that an Eagle can see their prey a mile away? This one sure kept an eye on me!
But, I guess I just wasn't much of a threat!

This telephone line is about 2 feet from dragging the ground. The snow stuck, then froze into place. It must be 6 inches wide, on a wire 1/4 inch wide.

The next 4 pics are my attempt to photograph the moisture in the air that is frozen by the cold. What you see is the crystals formed from the moisture. If you've never seen this....it's really beautiful. It has to be really cold....like 2 degrees, or in this case 4. Every place you see the sun shining, you'll see these tiny little sparkles falling down from the sky. It looks like little diamonds falling from heaven!

Isn't Mother Nature Beautiful?
And this little guy, or girl, is a Snowshoe Rabbit that I caught eating out of the bird seed dish on the back porch. Come spring, he'll be brown, tan, and white spotted. But in wintertime they turn pure white. This is the first time we've caught one on the porch. He had to go up 4 steps and across about 30 feet of porch, passed the back door and two windows, to get to the bowl. I think the frozen ground has him looking for easier food. I am happy to oblige him.

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

The Wreath Is On The Door

The wreath is on the door
And the snow is on the tree

God has laid His Holy hands
On all that we can see.

Be quick to raise your voice
And praise what He has brought.

Keep now His love in every choice
And Christmas in every thought.

Happy Thanksgiving to You All!

I'm thankful this year that I have a Mom to cook for me. All I have to do is show up. But of course I will bring a dish or two. She will cook way to much and we will eat way too much, but it will be in celebration of our gathering. And it will be so good.
I'm grateful for my husband whom I share each day of my life with and after 25 years, I am still happy to do so.
I'm thankful for my daughter and son in law and the 3 beautiful boys I have that are my grandsons. I'll get to spend the day with them all at Mom's.
I have a son and another daughter and son in law , that I am thankful for and the 5 grandchildren they have given me. We won't be together. But they know I love them.
I'm thankful that we have enough money to pay our bills and enough food to satisfy our tummies.
I'm grateful for our dogs, this beautiful place we live in and all the wildlife we share our days with.
I am grateful we are not in need like so many are right now.
I'm grateful for all the new "friends" I have made via all of our blogs. I am grateful that you all FOLLOW me, and that you have invited me into your world to read your blogs. I am grateful that I actually got to meet someone I FOLLOW, and she FOLLOWS me. Leigh, from Come By Chance. Our home towns are side by side! Our southern hearts are similar.
Last, I am grateful that I, and my family, are mostly pretty healthy. That is a blessing.
All and all, I am grateful to be alive and well. I hope you all will enjoy the parade and football and your Thanksgiving meals and Family. And for those of you traveling, remember, Thanksgiving is the busiest day of the year for travel. Go Safely!

God Bless You All
and
Happy Thanksgiving !
