A Hunting Vest .........For Your Bird Dog? Do You Use One??

That's The Question! We want to know what you think of bird dog vests

Do you have one?  If so, what kind? Why do you use one with your bird dog?  Does it work well and hold up for more than a season? Tell us anything you'd like about your experience.

(Enquiring minds want to know!) hee hee

  1. HI Guys, As you know I've never used a vest for any of my Gordons. Never seemed necessary. Arizona desert quail,Idaho/Montana forest Grouse, Sage Grouse, and Sharptails, Dakota Pheasants. All without vests or boots. Sugar, the Lab, on the other hand has a neoprene vest like the Yellow Lab in the photo. Gotta have one of those if you hunt ducks and geese around here.

  2. Thanks for your comment Mikey! So, You're saying that Sugar, your lab, wears one for warmth, while duck hunting, rather than protection from pokes and punctures?

  3. Karen, That's true. I think the most likely spot for a retriever to get hurt is on water entries. I try to check the entry area before the shooting starts.
