Never give your Gordon Setter anything to play with, that you wouldn't mind him destroying. Here's why. Let's say, for example, you're on the phone, and just to occupy your Gordon puppy temporarily, you give him your sock or shoe, or anything he shouldn't have all the time,....because you are right there and can watch him. But what about next time, when your shoes or socks are laying out and you are NOT there? The puppy does not know the difference. You have already given him full permission to chew them. ALWAYS give your Gordon Setter "doggie" toys and don't take the risk of them misunderstanding that your new loafers are a great chew toy. Besides that, doggie toys are made to be chewed on and are a much safer option.
