Giving Table Scraps to Gordon Setters

Do you give your Gordon Setter table scraps? I do. Almost everyday, they get a little bite or two of something. I asked my vet his opinion on this and he thought giving a few bites was fine. Basically, no more than 10% of their diet, should be human food. As much as our Gordons love human food, they need their own formulated food for proper nutrition. Good dog food has the correct amount of protein, vitamins, and fat for a balanced diet. A lot of fatty meat scraps, are not any better for your Gordon's health, than yours. You may notice that if you give them too much human food it gives them gas. Also, they can become picky about eating, like cats do when they get too much of a variety. For good balanced health, make it a "treat" not a meal.
