Being The Leader of The Pack

"Blackie" ~ Sure Thing Blackjack ~ Kennel Stud

At some point or another, we are all in a leadership roll. Whether at work, or home as the head of the household, or in clubs and organizations, good leadership is important. The same goes with your Gordon Setter. YOU must be the leader. Command respect from your Gordon Setter and take the leadership roll. If you don't, and your Gordon decides that HE is in charge, it could result in behavioral problems. I'm a big fan of Cesar Millan and that's the first thing he advises. "BE THE LEADER". Your body language, tone of voice, and consistency of rules and training, will convey to your Gordon Setter that you are in charge. It's pack mentality. SOMEONE has to be in charge of the pack. The Leader. If your Gordon Setter understands that YOU are in charge and you are the leader, he won't feel the need to run the show.
