Leaving The Country With Your Dog?....Read This First

If your planning a trip out of the United States with your dog, read this first. 

Did you know there are some countries who do not allow certain breeds to even ENTER their country? There are. As a matter of fact, most countries in the world, except for the United States and Canada, have a list of breeds they do not allow to enter their country. These dogs are the ones that are known to be, or perceived to be aggressive. Usually not bird dogs, thank goodness!

Here is a list of dogs that are commonly found on the "Banned Lists" around the world.

• American Staffordshire Terrier
• Staffordshire Terrier
• Pit Bull Terrier
• American Pit Bull Terrier
• Doberman Pinscher
• Bullmastiff
• Dogo Argentino
• Dogo de Burdeos
• Fila Brasileiro
• Mastin Napolitano
• De Presa Canario
• Rottweiler
• Tosa Japones

It is recommended that if your planning a trip to any other country, and your taking your dog who's breed is on this list, or a breed considered aggressive,  you should first contact the appropriate agency in that country to see if your dog is on the list. The Department of Agriculture in the country you are visiting, is a good place to check. You can also ask your travel agency or the airline.

Have a copy of your dogs registration in FDSB or AKC that proves they are the breed you claim. No room for mistakes when it comes to our dogs.

Make sure you check with an official agency.  There can be serious and heartbreaking consequences for ignoring these laws.  Some countries will even confiscate the animal and euthanize them.
